LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Nursing is kicking off celebrations for its 45-year anniversary with events in Abilene, Odessa, Houston and Amarillo coming up in late 2026 and early 2027.

The first event, “Wrangling the Future of Healthcare: Celebrating 45 Years of Excellence, Inspiring the Next Generation,” kicked off the year-long celebration to honor the school’s legacy and impact in nursing excellence.
“For 45 years, the strength of our School has come from our people and a shared commitment to caring, excellence and innovation,” TTUHSC School of Nursing Dean Holly Wei, Ph.D., R.N., said. “We honor the faculty, staff, students, alumni and partners who built this remarkable legacy, and we carry their spirit forward as we prepare the next generation of nurses.”

The School of Nursing was legislatively approved to join TTUHSC in 1979, and funding was approved to begin enrolling its first students in Lubbock in 1981.
