OKLAHOMA CITY (KVII) — Former Amarillo Mayor Paul Harpole and fellow Amarillo Vietnam veteran Ron “Crash” Clark were among more than 100 U.S. Army air ambulance crew members recognized Tuesday during a Congressional Gold Medal interim ceremony in Oklahoma City.
The Vietnam Dustoff Association held the ceremony for veterans who flew Army air ambulances during the Vietnam War under the “Dustoff” or “Medevac” call signs. Although the crews used different call signs, their mission was the same: to save the lives of patients in need.
