After last week’s flash flooding and heavy rain in parts of New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle, the National Weather Service in Amarillo is still anticipating multiple rounds of moderate to heavy rain starting in the area as early as Monday night, Sept. 28 and lasting through at least Wednesday.
“We are expecting the heaviest rain on Tuesday, and particularly late Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night, when there is a moderate risk (category 3 of 4) for flash flooding across the western and central Panhandles. A Flood Watch has been issued for much of that area,” NWS said.
Some of that flooding is also expected to be seen downstream in areas like the Canadian River.
