AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo area saw the spark of the Landfill Fire back in May, but the City of Amarillo Office of Emergency Management is working to remove the debris that was left behind after the fire.
A deadline of Sept. 1 was set by the Potter County Commissioners Court; according to the City of Amarillo Office of Emergency Management Director Max Dunlap was completed, and the office moved to the next milestone.
“So that process was to establish operational baselines and align county policy/procurement, execute interagency coordination, set up any FEMA-compliant tracking mechanisms before physical removal, and scope of work would be outlined for each debris type with their individual milestones depending on the county’s chosen route forward. I want to announce that that milestone has been achieved and the identification and tracking process has been enacted,” explained Dunlap.
