AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Following heavy rainfall in the Panhandle Tuesday, multiple roads have started to close due to flooding. This story will be updated as more closures are reported throughout the week.
Update on debris removal following Landfill Fire
Castro County
- The Castro County Sheriff’s Office reports that FM 1057 north of FM 2397 and sourth of US HWY 60 at Summerfield is closed due to flooding. Drivers are asked to find an alternate route until water levels recede.
Parmer County
- The Parmer County Sheriff’s Office reported that CR 5 from County Road T to CR R is closed and not passable due to flooding.
New Mexico
Curry County
- The Clovis Police Department is warning that a flood watch remains in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday. The playa lakes and reportedly at capacity. Officials warned that additional rain would flood streets and low-lying areas.
Roosevelt County
- The City of Portales advised that a Flood Watch is in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday. The city of Portales could potentially see 1.5 to 3 inches of rain with an increased risk of flooding due to ground saturation.
