AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Amarillo Animal Management and Welfare is hosting a free microchipping event throughout the month of October.
According to city officials, a microchip can help connect a lost animal with its owner and help pets make their way home more quickly. Officials noted that AMW reunited 152 animals with their owners in 2025 using microchips and 77 animals in 2026.
Those who are interested in getting their pets microchipped for free can bring their pets to the AMW Shelter, located at 3501 S. Osage St, from Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Officials noted that no appointment is needed.
