Amarillo man facing federal charges after 6 armed robberies

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) ā€” An Amarillo man is currently facing two federal charges after allegedly robbing six stores in the span of two months.

According to documents filed Monday in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas Amarillo Division, Curtis Wayne Rule, 34, was arrested after the Amarillo Police Department and the FBI had been investigating a series of armed robberies of commercial businesses.

Officials said the robberies occurred from Nov. 2023 to Jan. 2024 at six different locations:

  • Two Toot nā€™ Totums on Nov. 18, 2023, located on Southeast 10th Avenue and on Tascosa Road were robbed.
  • A Family Dollar store on Nov. 30, 2023, located on North Grand Street was robbed.
  • On Dec. 18, 2023, a Dollar General store located on West Amarillo Boulevard was robbed.
  • Another Toot nā€™ Totum on Jan. 5 located on South Georgia Street was robbed.
  • On Jan. 13, a CEFCO Convenience Store was robbed located on Bell Street.

According to court documents, investigators issued a search warrant at a location where Rule was trespassed back in January. Officials were able to recover an AR-15 rifle identical to the one used in the CEFCO robbery and items of clothing that were alleged to be linked to other previous robberies during the search warrant.
