Water Grows : Constructing Leaky Weirs

POTTER COUNTY, Texas (KVII) – A process designed to help reduce the downstream flood peak by temporarily storing water is becoming a popular method in the Texas Panhandle with select creeks and streams. Holding water back within a streams channel by using a barrier can help slow down the flow. The process is proving to be relatively effective. In this week’s Water Grow’s ABC7 News looks at how a recent non-profit start up is working on a creek in Potter County to help recharge underground aquifers.
