Buckner Children and Family Services hosts foster care and adoption informational meetings for families

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Buckner Children and Family Services will provide an in-person informational meeting on Thursday for families to learn more about the domestic foster care and adoption process.

According to officials from Buckner, the no-obligation meeting for prospective parents includes learning more about the foster care process, adoption process, programs, and requirements. Officials noted that last year Buckner oversaw the care of nearly 600 children in foster care in Texas and placed 100 children with permanent adoptive parents.

“One of our biggest areas of need is finding foster care and forever homes for children ages 5 years and older, sibling groups and children with special therapeutic needs,” said Katie Groninger, foster care supervisor for Buckner Children and Family Services in Amarillo. “We welcome anyone interested in learning more about the joys of opening their homes to support vulnerable children who need a home, love and support.”

According to officials from Buckner, Buckner also offers regular virtual meetings as an alternative and those interested can register for upcoming events on Jan. 25, Feb. 8, or Feb. 22. Officials noted that those interested in a full schedule of virtual informational meetings are encouraged to visit their website.
