Enjoy art, music, food and more at HeArt of CASA fundraiser Feb. 2

Amarillo Area CASA invites the community to celebrate its fith HeArt of CASA event, to be held Friday, Feb. 2 at Sharpened Iron Studios from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event, hosted by the non-profit, utilizes artwork created by children in foster care that they serve and presented to local artists, who then incorporate the child’s original message to create a one-of-a-kind artwork with double the meaning and talent.

HeArt of CASA, to be held in a new and larger location this year, will center around the art pieces available for purchase through a silent auction, as well as soul-stirring music, delectable hors d’oeuvres from local businesses, and a selection of wine and craft beer. This year will also be the first the event includes a wine and whiskey pull as well as a fajita bar.

“Whenever we visit our kids, they always are so excited to show us their drawings. We have come to realize that it was therapeutic for the children to draw what happened in the past, what they want for the future or their present, even something as simple as them saying ‘I drew this mac and cheese because it’s my favorite food that my mom used to make for me’ and many similar situations that allowed them to tell their story, and we saw that as a way to involve the community more, gain volunteers, spread the word of CASA, and help those kids know that they are seen,” Azaley Pulley, recruitment and fund development director at CASA, said.
