Texas Department of Public Safety, Amarillo Police Department arrest 8 in online sting operations

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – According to details released by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Amarillo Police Department on Monday, eight people were arrested from Jan. 25-26 on a charge of “Online Solicitation of a Minor” after sting operations conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies.

Both Texas DPS and the Amarillo police reported that suspects were arrested after allegedly soliciting sex online with law enforcement investigators posing as minors on created social media profiles.

Texas DPS officials said that on Jan. 25 and Jan. 26, Criminal Investigations Division agents led a “multi-agency joint operation targeting child sexual predators and human traffickers in the Amarillo area,” which led to three DPS arrests.

The people arrested during the DPS sting operation on charges of “Online Solicitation of a Minor” included:

  • 23-year-old Gregory Enriquez;
  • 23-year-old Michael Markley; and
  • 35-year-old Phillip Davis.

Also, the Amarillo Police Department detailed that on Jan. 26 its Special Victims Unit and Proactive Criminal Enforcement Unit conducted another sting operation. During that operation, five people were arrested on charges of “Online Solicitation of a Minor,” including:
