West Texas A&M University Police reports sexual assault case on campus

CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — In accordance with federal law, West Texas A&M University Police announced on Monday that it received a report of a sexual assault that allegedly occurred on campus early Sunday morning.

According to WT police, the sexual assault was reported to have allegedly occurred in Zone 16E, and that it was unknown as of Monday if the victim was acquainted with the suspect.

Police said the Title IX office was notified of the reported incident.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, noted WT police, is a federal law that requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses in a timely manner in an effort to prevent similar crimes.
