AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Opportunity School in Amarillo is ready for their upcoming annual Valentine’s Cookie Sale in which 100% of the proceeds will help the students and families served by Opportunity Schools.
“Opportunity School is one of the only nationally accredited early childhood education programs in the Texas Panhandle. We’re the only one serving primarily low income families, here in Amarillo,” said Jill Goodrich Executive Director of Opportunity Schools. “Our focus is supporting parents that are working or in school. We really balance that, between supporting parents with childcare and supporting children’s learning with high quality early childhood education.”
The local nonprofit is able to make the Valentine’s cookie sale happen with the help of local sponsors and the baking team at United Supermarkets. With the help of sponsors underwriting the cost of the fundraiser, all the proceeds will go back to Opportunity School.
“The Valentine’s cookie sale is one of our most favorite and well-loved fundraisers. We also raise some funds,” said Goodrich. “We sell pink boxes of two dozen thumbprint cookies and then our volunteers deliver those anywhere in Amarillo and Canyon.”
