6 women set to graduate from Downtown Women’s Center program

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Downtown Women’s Center announced that six women are set to graduate from the DWC’s Recovery Program on Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Central Church of Christ chapel.

According to officials with the DWC, they serve homeless women in recovery from alcohol and other drug addictions through its soon-to-be four shelters: Haven House, Abba House, Gratitude House, and Haven House Too for women new in recovery who are pregnant or have children with them.

Officials with the DWC said more than 250 women had successfully completed the DWC Recovery Program since 2007 when it started having graduation ceremonies. For the 2007 ceremony, Barnes Jewelry designed and made a one-of-a-kind cross necklace for the graduates in 2007, and the necklaces are still given to each graduate today.

The DWC said it wanted to congratulate the six graduates below:
