1 found dead, caller arrested in South Amarillo on Saturday

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Officials with the Amarillo Police Department are investigating after Cecelia Rodriguez, 27, was found dead in South Amarillo.

According to an APD press release, at around 2:25 a.m. on Feb. 3 officers were called to the 4000 Blk of S. Ong Street regarding a 911 call from a subject that reported that a female had been shot.

APD said on arrival officers found Rodriguez dead, “from an apparent gunshot wound.”

The release detailed that the caller was 26-year-old Juan Antonio Salinas III, who was taken to the APD Homicide Unit and interviewed. APD added that Salinas was then arrested for “on-view murder,” and booked into Randall County Detention Center.

The department said this investigation is still ongoing by the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit.
