Amarillo International Film Festival to start taking submissions

The Amarillo Film Society announced Wednesday that it will start taking submissions for its newly announced Amarillo International Film Festival (AIFF).

The festival is scheduled to run from Oct. 10 through 12 at the Arts in the Sunset complex, with ticket prices and passes to be determined. Submissions for the festival can begin Monday, Feb. 5 and must be submitted at FilmFreeway.com.

There are various deadlines, with an early bird deadline of April 1, a regular deadline of June 3, and a final deadline of July 29. The later the deadline, the more the cost for submission is. If a work is submitted during the early deadline period, it will cost $25, and it will go up to $50 if uploaded by the final deadline.

Categories for awards and submissions will be:

  • Narrative feature
  • Documentary feature
  • Narrative short
  • Narrative student short
  • Documentary short
  • Animated short
  • Corporate award

Submissions will have a a judged award with cash prizes that are still to be announced and audience awards, with all winners receiving a special artisan-made AIFF Award. Also announced was a Greater Amarillo Filmmaker Award, which will go toward equipment rental and 10 hours of usage of a 3,000-square-foot sound stage at Sharpened Iron Studios.
