AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Forecaster Mari Ferrel hosted a Geography Trivia game on Today in Amarillo on Friday that focused on world geography topics. TIA Anchors Caylee Hanna and Roushell Hamilton Jr. were the contestants in the game that tested their knowledge.
Ferrel asked the following geography question that ultimately saw Hamilton take the win:
What is the largest hot desert in the world?
A. Sonoran Desert
B. Sahara Desert
C. Gobi Desert
D. Patagonian Desert
Answer: B. Sahara Desert
The Sahara Desert is located in northern Africa and on average, this desert receives between 0-3 inches of rainfall per year. Even with the Sahara Desert sitting as the largest hot desert in the world it is not the largest in the world. A fun fact is that the Antarctica Desert is the largest in the world and it happens to be a polar desert. Hamilton chose the Sahara Desert as his answer choice, while Caylee went with the Gobi Desert.
Which country is located along the “Ring of Fire”?
A. Morocco
