Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum’s new exhibit features Salvador Dali’s illustrative works of ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’

CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum announced the launch of its newest exhibit, “Dali’s Wonderland,” on Thursday which showcases the dream-like world created in “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” originally published by Lewis Carroll in 1865, and reflects the version of wonderland that was illustrated by iconic surrealism figure, Salvador Dali.

The exhibit, located in the Bugbee Art Gallery, also features a limited edition copy of the book which came from the personal library of Sybil B. Harrington, according to WT officials. The book then became a part of the PPHM Collection in 2022 with the help of Harrington House and Dr. Jessica Mallard, dean of the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities.

The exhibit was established in partnership with the WTAMU Information Technology Department and, therefore, will feature a virtual flipbook of Dali’s work. Officials added that the IT department is working to create an artificial intelligence and augmented reality feature to the exhibition in the upcoming months.
