As a part of the McDonald’s Gives Back Day, the local franchise donated more than $7,000 to Amarillo Angels to assist with its program needs during a check presentation ceremony held Tuesday afternoon in the Amarillo Angels office, located at 112 SW 8th Ave.
During the announcement, McDonald’s presented the nonprofit with a total of $7,178.02 as a part of the Give Back Day that originally began in 2020. According to Stephanie Khayat, marketing coordinator of McDonald’s, the restaurant chain began the day following the COVID-19 pandemic to help those who have worked to support the communities McDonald’s serves.
Khayat said that donations like the one given to the Amarillo Angels are given every quarter of the year, and it includes an application, research and examination process.
“When it came time for us to determine who would be a part of our Give Back Day for this quarter, we began doing research on several organizations, and we were amazed to see how much Amarillo Angels does for our community. They do a lot for the foster families, and especially the kids,” Khayat said.
