Nine students selected by AC music faculty to perform in Honors Recital

Nine particularly accomplished student musicians have been selected by the music faculty at Amarillo College to showcase their talents in this year’s Student Honors Recital at AC.

The recital, which is free and open to the public, will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27 at the Concert Hall Theater on the Washington Street Campus.

These outstanding music majors, along with the selections they will play, were selected for the Honors Recital based on their jury performances last fall:

  • Stephen Jones, tenor – “Dein ist mein ganzes Herz” from Das Land des Lächelns, Lehár
  • Carson Davis, piano – Sonatina in C Op. 20 No. 1 Mov. 1, Kuhlau
  • Trent Jones, guitar – Barcarola in D “Julia Florida”, Agustin Barrios Mangore
  • Abran Herr, baritone – Money O!, Michael Head
  • Raul Zuniga, counter tenor – Malagueña, Ernesto Lecuona
  • Eliza Pearson, cello – Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33, Camille Saint-Saens
  • Jose Ruiz, tenor – “Una furtiva lagrima” from L’Elisir d’Amore, Gaetano Donizetti
  • Keoni Murphy, guitar – Andecy, Andrew York
  • Heaven Watts, mezzo-soprano – “The Saga of Jenny” from Lady in the Dark, I. Gershwin & K. Weill
