Girl Scouts announce 2024 Amarillo Women of Distinction honorees

Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains is proud to announce the 2024 Women of Distinction Award honorees. They include the Rising Star – Aurora Anacker, ambassador, Troop 5754; Outstanding Community Partner – Shi Lee’s Barbecue & Soul Food Café; Man Enough to Be a Girl Scout – Jason Crespin, managing artistic director, Amarillo Little Theatre; Lifetime Achievement – Cynthia Walton, RN, WHNP-BC, Girl Scout alum and lifetime member; and Woman of Distinction – Liz M. Rascón-Alaniz, Ed.D., executive director, Heal the City.

Through the Women of Distinction Luncheon and awards ceremony, scheduled for Nov. 7 at the Amarillo Botanical Gardens, Girl Scouts brings together and recognizes a group of purpose-driven leaders in business, government, education, and philanthropy, who, like their girls, are dedicated to service and leadership, a news release says.

“We are excited to honor leaders who represent so many groups from the Amarillo community who believe in the power of girls,” says Becky Burton, Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains CEO. “The committee selected amazing women and men who our Girl Scouts can aspire to be like as they learn to give back to their communities in a positive way.”
