TxDOT is partnering with former NASA rocket scientist Shayla Rivera to launch the Save Me With a Seat campaign during National Child Passenger Safety Week, Sept. 15-21. In 2023, there were 2 passenger vehicle crashes in the Amarillo District that resulted in 2 serious injuries and no fatalities for children (who were inside the vehicle) younger than 8 years old. Also, in the Amarillo District in 2023, there were 9 passenger vehicle crashes that resulted in 9 serious injuries and no fatalities for children (who were inside the vehicle) ages 8-12.
