Maxwell’s Pumpkin Farm opens its gates today

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The official start of fall is not until tomorrow however a piece of it came a little early to Amarillo with Maxwell’s Pumpkin Farm opening day.

“We’re excited to get the gate open. This is our 17th season, so we’ve been working hard all year, really, to prepare for today,” said Maxwell’s Pumpkin Farm Owner Larry Borger. “So we’re so glad to get open and so far, the weathers great. So lots of folks coming, so very thankful.”

To kickoff the 17th season, the farm aims to bring back all of the fall family fun that many across the area love, with a few new additions.

“We haven’t had a place for our big animals the last couple of years. So this year we’ve got Applejack Ranch new and we’ve got our llamas, our alpacas. We’ve got a new Scottish Highland cow, some miniature donkeys,” said Borger. “So those are so fun for folks to get to feed those animals and get to see them.”

Another addition this year to the farm is the Giant Maze which is a “Peanuts” themed maze to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
