The Canyon volleyball team remained unbeaten in district play on Tuesday night by defeating Randall 25-16, 25-7, 25-23 in a District 4-4A match.
Senior duo Sydnee Winfrey and Isabell Hunt starred for Canyon (17-10, 4-0), helping the Eagles sweep the Raiders (18-12, 3-1). For Randall, Amber Matthews and Havi Valdez had solid showings, blocking the ball at the net and recording a handful of big spikes against a talented Canyon front line.
Who made the match-changing plays?
Canyon won the match’s first set 25-16 behind strong performances from Hunt (eight digs) and Winfrey (two blocks), and an impressive defensive outing from Landri Jay, who finished with 18 digs. Maddie Haugen added two blocks at the net, too.
Alainna Bellino orchestrated the offense with a team-best 18 assists, helping Laney Jones (13 kills) and Isabel Hunt (six kills) get going on the attack.
