Oktoberfest at Starlight Ranch brings German food, music, and fun to Amarillo

The third annual Oktoberfest at Starlight Ranch kicks off this weekend, promising a blend of authentic German flavors, live music, and family-friendly fun. The event, which has quickly become a fall tradition in Amarillo, will take place Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m., offering guests an evening of entertainment and a chance to experience a taste of Bavaria right in the Texas Panhandle. Tickets are on sale now.

This year’s Oktoberfest, hosted by the Big Texan Steak Ranch, is set to be the largest yet, with organizers expecting around 1,800 attendees — an increase from last year’s crowd of 1,200. The festival will feature 12 imported kegs of Paulaner and Spaten Oktoberfest, served in classic style. Attendees can enjoy these beers in glass German steins, which hold a full liter and can be purchased separately. The steins are expected to sell out quickly, so guests are encouraged to arrive early to get theirs while supplies last.

“The food is always the biggest hit,” said Bobby Lee, owner of the Big Texan and one of the event organizers. “A lot of people don’t realize they like German food until they try it, and we put a little Texas spin on it, so it’s something everyone can enjoy.”
