TxDOT announces paving operations to begin in Canyon Monday

CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas Department of Transportation announced crews would begin paving operations on US 87 and SH 217 starting on Monday.

TxDOT said the contractor will begin on US 87 at Russel Long Boulevard and work south to the Canyon city limits. Crews will then move to SH 217 after finishing work on US 87.

TxDOT said this is the second phase of ADA safety upgrades that began in July.

During construction, drivers can expect various lane closures on these roadways. Crews will have signs posted throughout the project limits to alert drivers what sections of roadway are closed during that time.

TxDOT said it would provide lane closure updates as construction progresses on the project. Officials are aiming to have the $9.5 million project finished by early 2025.
