Renovations to Amarillo College’s Ware Student Commons to be completed next year

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Major renovations to the Ware Student Commons at Amarillo College are set to be completed early next year and academic tutoring resources that are now scattered across different buildings will be united under one roof.

According to Amarillo College officials, the Lynn Library will be fully redesigned and relocated to the third floor where it will rest adjacent to the Writer’s Corner and student-centered assets such as AC’s math and science testing centers and the behavioral health and wellness Counseling Center also will be moved into the WSC from other locations.

Officials also state that the redesign also includes an expansion of the Advocacy and Resource Center which will continue to anchor the northeast corner and the addition of offices on the second floor to accommodate success coaches.

On the fourth floor, according to officials, the tutoring centers that specialize in math and science will take up residence with each being equipped with a variety of learning spaces to accommodate group and individual tutoring. On the third floor, the library setup features a welcoming front test and a lower row of shelving called stacks that do not block patrons from seeing the entire length of the library and include several quiet study rooms.
