Several high-profile economic development projects are making headway in the Amarillo area, despite some experiencing temporary pauses or delays. Kevin Carter, president of the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), shared the latest updates on these major projects, including Producer Owned Beef, CVMR’s minerals refinery, Albers Aerospace’s expansion, Buc-ee’s travel center, and several other developments.

Producer Owned Beef project

The construction of the $850 million Producer Owned Beef processing facility, which was previously approved by the city council, has temporarily been paused. Once completed, the project is expected to create approximately 1,500 jobs and significantly boost the local economy. While there is no confirmed date for the resumption of construction, Carter remains hopeful that work will recommence within the next 60 days.

“This project has a huge economic impact for our area,” Carter noted. “We’re hopeful to see construction restart soon and move forward to completion.”
