TxDOT hosts statewide transportation plans pop-up events

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas Department of Transportation visited communities in the area to inform the public about the development of two transportations plans.

TxDOT said it is developing the Statewide Multimodal Transportation Plan (SMTP) and Statewide Active Transportation Plan (SATP).

“We wanna make sure there’s a comprehensive plan being done here in the Amarillo district for both the active transportation and the Multimodal transportation. that way that people using all kinds of transportation can get around efficiently and safely,” said Jason Britsch, Public Information Officer for TxDOT.

“With input from stakeholders and communities across the state, these two draft plans will lay out a coordinated, unified vision for transit and active transportation priorities through 2050 and beyond,” said officials.

TxDOT said the SMTP includes transit such as buses, trains, and on-demand rideshare, while the SATP includes human-powered modes like cycling, walking, using mobility aids, and smaller electric options such as e-scooters.
