AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Chef Ron from Sunday’s Kitchen joined Today in Amarillo on Tuesday morning and showed off a delicious Braised Beef Shanks recipe.

Chef Ron cooks Cajun Garlic Butter Steak Bites on Today in Amarillo

Braised Beef Shanks

  • 3 lbs. cross-cut beef shanks (about 4)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 3 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup red wine*
  • 1 can (14 oz.) diced tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth, divided
  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme (or 1 tsp. dry leaves)
  • 3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
