Salvation Army Angel Tree program kicks off in Amarillo Walmarts, Westgate Mall

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Christmas trees decorated with Salvation Army Angels can now be found in stores and businesses around Amarillo, and Angels are available for adoption now through Dec. 13.

According to officials with the Salvation Army Amarillo, each angel ready for adoption represents an individual child and includes a list of Christmas wishes and needed items. Officials also stated that more than 1,000 children in need will experience the “joy of Christmas morning” thanks to the generosity of the community.

“The Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides toys, clothing and other items to children and families who otherwise would struggle to afford Christmas gifts this year. Many are living paycheck to paycheck in today’s economy. We have the opportunity to come alongside those parents and make the holidays a little less stressful and provide Love Beyond Christmas morning,” said Major Andrea Ellis of The Salvation Army in Amarillo. “Angels are now available for adoption by individuals, families and businesses, who will play a significant role in bringing joy to children’s hearts this Christmas.”
