Amarillo’s American Council of the Blind Thrift Store celebrates 40th anniversary

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The American Council of the Blind Thrift Store in Amarillo is celebrating its 40th anniversary on Feb. 10, marking four decades of service to the community and providing thrift items while supporting the visually impaired.

According to officials from the ACB Thrift Store, the store has been a cornerstone of the Amarillo community since 1985 and offers affordable clothing, household items, and more. Officials noted that the store’s proceeds directly benefit the American Council of the Blind to aid their mission to improve the quality of life for people who are blind or visually impaired.

“We are thrilled to celebrate 40 years of service in Amarillo,” said Darren Marcum, Store Manager. “Our success is a testament to the incredible support from our community, dedicated staff, and volunteers. We look forward to continuing our mission for many more years to come.”

ACB Thrift Store officials also noted that the anniversary celebration will include special sales, refreshments, and drawings for prizes. The event will take place at the ACB Thrift Store located at 403 S Western Street from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and all are welcome to join the festivities…
