AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Officials with the City of Amarillo released a statement following the incident at a night club in downtown Amarillo on early Sunday morning.
In the release officials explained that, “the City of Amarillo, along with its City Council, is deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred early this morning in downtown Amarillo. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those impacted by this senseless act of violence.”
1 dead, 8 injured after shooting at Amarillo night club
Amarillo’s Mayor Cole Stanley released the following statement regarding the incident:
“We mourn the loss of life and pray for healing for those injured,” said Mayor Cole Stanley. “This is a devastating moment for our community, but I know Amarillo’s strength and resilience will help us support one another through it.” The City commends the Amarillo Police Department, Randall County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, the 47th District Attorney’s Office, Amarillo Fire Department, and AMR paramedics for their swift and professional actions in responding to this tragedy. Mayor Stanley also recognized the bravery of citizens who provided critical information that led to the arrests. “I am incredibly grateful to our law enforcement officers, first responders, and the citizens whose actions helped bring resolution to this situation,” Stanley said. “Their efforts reflect the values of unity and care that make Amarillo a community I am proud to call home.” The City of Amarillo encourages the community to stand together in solidarity during this difficult time.
