Snow and ice possible for the Texas/Oklahoma panhandles

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The National Weather Service in Amarillo, Texas have issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the northern 5 rows of counties in the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles. These advisories will be in effect from 12AM Tuesday until 12PM Wednesday.

Freezing mist and drizzle will lead to minor ice accumulation of 0.01-to-0.15″ near I-40 through the Texas panhandle. This will make bridges and roads slick at times leading to hazardous travel conditions.

Further north, freezing mist will transition to light snow for areas predominantly north of the Canadian River Valley. Snow accumulations of 1-to-2 inches are expected around the Oklahoma panhandle and the north Texas panhandle.

Precipitation will clear from west to east Wednesday morning and this will lead to a significant cooldown Wednesday night. Thursday morning lows will fall into the single digits and wind chills could fall below 0 degrees…
