Officer Jermaine Galloway, known as “The Tall Cop,” shared findings from his recent community scan of Amarillo during a news conference last Wednesday at the Amarillo College First Responders Academy, warning that local drug trends mirror those seen across the country.
“Amarillo is no different than anywhere else in Texas,” Galloway said. “You have everything every other city has. The idea that drug problems only exist in big cities is a myth. Every community, regardless of size, is facing these same issues.”
His remarks followed his High in Plain Sight training, held Feb. 12-13, where he educated law enforcement officers, school officials, and community leaders on emerging drug trends, concealment tactics, and prevention strategies.
