Just as Oklahomans opposed a large electric transmission corridor across the northern stretches of the state, a similar corridor that would cross a small portion of theOklahoma Panhandle and in two other states is facing opposition.
Oklahoma’s fierce opposition resulted in the Delta-Plains National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor being cancelled by the federal government in December of last year. Now the same kind of corridor, the Southwestern Grid Connector Corridor is facing criticism. The Southwestern Corridor would be a 5-to 15-mile wide route from southern Colorado to southern New Mexico and across the far western end of the Oklahoma Panhandle.
