Bicycles built by students bring smiles to Eastridge second-graders

Dreams came true for many second-graders at Eastridge Elementary School Friday afternoon as brand-new bicycles were given to each and every student during their Physical Education Class. Thanks to United Way of Amarillo and Canyon’s Youth Leadership Cabinet and Xcel Energy, 74 shiny new bicycles were presented to happy students.

The girl’s bikes had bright tassels and were white, pink and blue while the boys were a navy blue. Bicycle safety helmets were also included in the gift.

During the Youth Cabinet Leadership Day in October 2024, students came together to assemble the bicycles for the local kids.
