AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — According to court documents that were filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District Court of Texas, a postal service employee has been indicted for mail theft.
According to court documents, Luis Herrera has been indicted on one charge of “Theft of Mail by a United States Postal Service Employee.” Documents state that Herrera allegedly “embezzle, steal, abstract, and remove articles and things contained therein, that is, gift cards, United States currency and a personal check, from a letter, postal card, package, bag, and mail” from approximately November 2024 through February 2025.

Documents also state that these articles were “entrusted” to Herrera with the intent “to be conveyed by mail and carried and delivered by any carrier, messenger, agent and other person employed in any department of the Postal Service and forwarded through and delivered from any post office and station.”
