AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Molly Goodnight Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is celebrating 100 years in Amarillo.
In 1925, the Llano Estacado chapter in Amarillo was formed to help with historical preservation, patriotism, and education. In 2019, the chapter merged to make the Molly Goodnight chapter, a different name, but the message was the same.

“There was another chapter that was formed briefly in Canyon, Tierra Blanca. But the two other chapters, Llano Estacado and Arredondo, started aging out, and they were losing members,” said Molly Goodnight Chapter Regent Shari Morris. “We chose a new name, which was Molly Goodnight. And then we kept the original date from Llano Estacada, which is 1925 so though technically, our chapter is just six years old. We’re really 100 years old with all of the when we originated.”
Over the almost 100 years, the nonprofit has been able to help through many different avenues…
