If you live in Texas, you may or may not be surprised by the cold front that brought snow to the Panhandle over the weekend.

After an unusually cold and snowy winter , Texas weather proved that wintry conditions are still very much possible weeks after the first day of spring. This weekend also demonstrated that the Farmer’s Almanac — which predicted “warm, dry” conditions in Texas, Oklahoma and the Great Plains — isn’t always accurate.

Weather reports show a snowstorm hit parts of the state on Saturday, April 5. Areas along the I-27 corridor and the far south central Panhandle saw over seven inches of snow. Heavy snowfall resulted in whiteout conditions in some places…
