Amarillo, Texas , is a city known for some of its “unique” art installations . We have Cadillac Ranch, Bug Ranch, Floating Mesa, that weird leg out in the middle of a field, and the list goes on. We also have murals on almost every high-traffic wall you can think of. What we don’t have is anything quite like these massive signs I recently found.

If you travel along Bell and Plains in Amarillo, you might have noticed these signs sitting out by the Rock Island Trail. If you’ve never noticed them, it’s understandable. Your eyes belong on the road anyway.
They appeared with no warning. There was no fanfare. One day, they simply appeared.
Despite their size and being in an odd location, I paid them no mind the first couple of times I passed by. Then, curiosity got the best of me. I had to know what these signs were for and why they were at the corner of Plains and Bell.
