Unexpected AmeriCorps cuts leave Amarillo nonprofit scrambling for funds

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Square Mile Community Development, a nonprofit dedicated to providing resources to underserved neighborhoods in Amarillo, is facing a funding crisis after unexpected cuts to its AmeriCorps partnership.

The organization, known for its urban farms on 6th Street and the Refugee Resource Center, relies heavily on private donations and has partnered with West Texas A&M AmeriCorps to employ four staff members.
