Your food or other deliverables are important to you, and you are not leaving your house. We understand you don’t want to. Maybe you can’t. There are reasons you are asking us to be the ones picking up and delivering your food.

We live off tips. A lot of people say if you want to make money, then get a real job. A lot of us have full-time jobs and do this to supplement our income. So when we get done with an eight-hour day and then continue to work to make ends meet or save for a vacation, it can be a slap in the face to see someone not tip. Unless you own up to it.

I have been delivering for almost two years, and I give kudos to the girl I recently delivered to. She couldn’t afford to tip. She told me from the beginning. I respected that about her. I didn’t decline her order. I didn’t shame her for not tipping. I had the utmost respect because she didn’t lie.

Recently, this high school girl straight up told me she couldn’t tip. That got me back to thinking about my own daughter when she was that age. I would hope someone would appreciate her honesty and help her out. I get it. We were all there. At least she told me.

We communicated the whole time because her order was taking longer because DoorDash gave me a stacked order. The restaurant I picked up the food from was taking a long time. I already had her drinks and let her know what was going on…
