Amarillo, Texas, is full of great places for its hardware needs. We have the big stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s, and the smaller stores like Pride Home Center and Sutherland’s. However, another one of those smaller stores was tucked into a shopping center on south Western Street.
What Happened to Ace Hardware on Western in Amarillo?
Ace Hardware was located at 4705 S. Western, and the “Ace” has been removed from the building.
According to a Yelp review, they were permanently closed in January due to rent default. However, that is a Yelp review, and you should take that with a grain of salt. If you have driven by the hardware location, you will notice there is a banner hanging in front of the building.
Paramount Hardware and Supply is Open in Amarillo, Texas
The former Ace Hardware store is now called Paramount Hardware and Supply. Why the change? We reached out to another Paramount Hardware and Supply store and asked about the change. The store is under the same ownership; however, they have left the Ace Hardware buying co-op and are currently transitioning to a new buying group. Paramount Hardware and Supply has stores in Levelland and Fort Stockton.

Is Ace Hardware Permanently Closed in Amarillo?
No, a new Ace Hardware will be opening soon in Amarillo. The new Ace Hardware will be moving into the old Natural Grocers building in the Summit Shopping Center.
According to a post on the Gaut Whittenburg Emerson Brokerage and Property Management, Ace Hardware has leased the space and will soon be moving into the shopping center at 34th and Coulter.
