AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage provides a safe and stable place for homeless or low-income single families so the parent may begin working towards a college degree.
Eveline Rivers McCoy is the Executive Director and she said that Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage began when she was looking for a way to support families that are experiencing homelessness a way for them to branch out and explore the option of going to college.
“We now own 10 separate homes. We fully furnish them, because if you’re homeless, we don’t see you walking down the street with your furniture on your back and your dishes in your backpack,” added Rivers McCoy. “So we totally furnish them, and I’m a particularly, particular person, and it is something that if I’m happy with the way we’ve done it, then I feel like it’s ready for a new family to come in.”…
