Amarillo student ties for 20th in SCRIPPS National Spelling Bee Semi-Final

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Arnav Parat, a seventh-grade student from Amarillo, tied for 20th place out of 243 kids at the national level in the semifinals of the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee, marking a significant achievement on the national stage.

Representing Ascension Academy, Parat advanced through multiple rounds of fierce competition in Washington, D.C., demonstrating impressive poise and preparation. This year’s finish is his best yet, and he is no stranger to the big stage; he previously competed in 2022, where he tied for 89th place.
