Canyon, Texas, took a huge blow when it was announced that the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum would be closed because the building wasn’t up to code. The cost to bring the museum up to code is over $200 million. It wasn’t just a blow to Canyon but to the Texas Panhandle and all over the state of Texas since it is the largest museum in the Lone Star State. However, there is light, a glowing light of PPHM fun coming this summer.
Will the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum Still Host Night at the PPHM?
All is not lost. The PPHM is still hosting one of its fun summer events. Despite the museum being closed, the show must go on, and this year, it will be glowing.

What to Expect at Night at the PPHM
The event will stick to its historic roots, with a few changes. Even though the event cannot be held inside the museum, it will still be held at the museum on the lawn as they combine glow-in-the-dark fun with history.

- Explore glowing rocks with a geologist
- Meet historical role players
- Play games and dig into a fossil box
- Local food trucks
Cost is $5 per person and free for PPHM Members.
