Lubbock, along with the rest of the South Plains and Panhandle enjoyed a Saturday without any severe weather happening. But that’s all predicted to change on Sunday due to the increased threat of severe weather. Severe weather from Lubbock to Amarillo and from Midland to Texarkana is expected on Sunday.
The storms that develop in the Panhandle, South Plains and Big Country on Sunday could be extremely dangerous with Lubbock seeing an “enhanced” risk of storms and from Plainview north, the risk level is a 4 out of 5 at moderate.
Severe thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon and evening. Strong wind gusts up to 90 mph, very large hail up to softball size, localized flooding, and tornadoes are all possible with any severe thunderstorm. #lubwx#txwxpic.twitter.com/Q20zGxfMu6…
