AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — It was a memorable Sunday afternoon at the Civic Center Grand Plaza as a new class was inducted into the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame. There were many team and individual honors announced, However, the headline was obviously the three new members being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Starting with Scott Tankersley, he was diagnosed as deaf at the age of three, but he didn’t let that keep him from becoming a great head coach. He had many coaching stints, one being his incredible run from 1998-2009 with the Caprock girls wrestling team, where he won seven state titles, six of them in a row. He spoke about earning the Hall of Fame honor.
Scott Tankersley said, “It means the world to me, because there are so many good people in this. I grew up looking at the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame. Mom, Dad, and I would always go, and I am now one of them. It just blows my mind to be a part of this, It’s an honor.”…
