Now Open: Amarillo’s new WIC-only store opens

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Grocery Services North has launched the city’s first WIC-only store in about 30 years, offering an easy shopping experience for WIC program participants.

Mark Brumback, president of Grocery Services North, said the new retail location addresses the significant challenges faced by WIC participants in traditional grocery stores.

“So typically, for a person on the WIC program, they go to a traditional grocery store and try to find what products are WIC-approved. Not every store labels all the approved WIC products, so it’s difficult for them to find the products that have been approved to feed their baby and themselves,” Brumback said.
